Cold Mountain Sign Replaced In Time For Movie Release

A signpost marking North Carolina's Cold Mountain was re-erected last week to coincide with the Christmas Day release of the Civil War film of the same name. The sign is located in a parking area which faces the 6,030-foot mountain. It had been taken down for refurbishing, but is now back in place along U.S. Highway 276, according to the Associated Press.

Cold Mountain, the movie, is about a wounded Confederate soldier's journey home through the harsh Southern landscape.

Nicole Kidman stars in Cold Mountain as Ada, the woman the soldier is marching home for. Though raised in Australia, Kidman says she had no problem relating to Cold Mountain's Civil War era because her father was an American history buff: "My father was obsessed with history. And so I was given a very strong education in terms of not just the Civil War, but World War II and World War I."
