Michael Jackson Denies Molestation Charges On '60 Minutes'![]() Last night on 60 Minutes, embattled pop singer Michael Jackson denied all child molestation charges against him. During an interview with correspondent Ed Bradley, Jackson said that he would "slit his wrists" before hurting a child. The 45-year-old entertainer also said that despite the fact that he faces criminal charges for his behavior towards underage boys, he still believes it's alright to sleep in the same bed with a child. Jackson told the news program, quote, "Why not? If you're going to be a pedophile, if you're going to be Jack The Ripper, if you're going to be a murderer, it's not a good idea. That I am not." The interview was taped on Christmas Day (December 25th) in a hotel room in Los Angeles, in the presence of Jackson's high-powered lawyer Mark Geragos. As for his treatment by authorities, Jackson said that his Neverland ranch was ruined forever by the police's extensive search of the property. He said, quote, "I won't live there ever again. It's a house now. It's not a home anymore. I'll only visit." He says he has not yet been able to bring himself to go into his own bedroom, which his employees have told him has been "totally trashed." Jackson also alleged that he was "manhandled very roughly" by police while being booked in Santa Barbara county, and is still in pain as a result. He also said he was locked in a feces-filled restroom for 45 minutes Jackson is charged with seven counts of performing lewd or lascivious acts upon a child under 14. He's also accused of administering an intoxicating agent to a minor. In other Jackson news, a postponed CBS special about the singer has been rescheduled for broadcast in January. Michael Jackson Number Ones was originally set to air on November 26th, but was pulled by the network a week before its debut when police issued a warrant for Jackson's arrest. The special, which was intended to boost interest in Jackson's latest album, will hit airwaves on January 2nd. from LAUNCH media More music headlines | |
