April is recognized as Fair Housing Month

April is recognized as Fair Housing Month to commemorate the passage of the Fair Housing Act of 1968. The FHA prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, and familial status. Connecticut state law adds protections for more groups of people—including victims of domestic violence, veterans, individuals who pay their rent using income from housing assistance, social security, or disability income, and more.

This Fair Housing Month, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities is hosting a webinar on April 23, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM to explore the collateral consequences of convictions, including barriers on fair access to housing.
